A 24-year-old woman, Halimat Jubril, was arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly possessing a fabricated Barretta pistol along the Lagos Badagry Expressway.
She was stopped by a Police Tactical Team on routine patrol at the ECOWAS corridor in Badagry, where she failed to provide a reasonable explanation for having the weapon.
Halimat denied being an armed robber but couldn’t justify why she had the pistol on the highway.
The police suspect she conspired with others still at large to unlawfully possess the firearm.
She’s been charged with conspiracy and unlawful possession of a firearm, facing possible imprisonment under Lagos State laws.
The case is pending before the Ogba Magistrate Court, awaiting the Directorate of Public Prosecutions’ report.
