Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on Wednesday visited Eruku in Ekiti Local Government Area, a day after military personnel took over security operations in the community in response to a violent attack.
The Governor arrived in the town alongside security chiefs and senior government officials, proceeding straight to the affected area where he addressed church members and other residents.
He assured them of the joint efforts of his administration and that of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to restore peace and stability.
AbdulRazaq reiterated that all necessary measures were being deployed to safeguard lives and property in Eruku and other vulnerable communities.
He praised the swift intervention of the Nigerian military and other security agencies, saying their prompt response had restored public confidence and prevented a further breakdown of law and order.
He appealed to residents to remain calm and cooperate with security operatives as operations continue.
Meanwhile, the state government disclosed that enhanced intelligence-gathering efforts are underway, including collaboration with local vigilante groups and traditional institutions, to strengthen security across the border communities of Kwara South.
The Governor reaffirmed that his administration will continue to pursue and eliminate criminal elements threatening the peace of the state.
