The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 28-year-old suspected serial impostor, Victor Cletus, for allegedly defrauding and sexually exploiting a young woman after posing as a medical doctor.
The Command’s spokesperson, CSP Omolola Odutola, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued on Friday.
According to Odutola, the arrest followed a report filed by the victim, who said the suspect contacted her on Snapchat and falsely claimed to be a surgeon at the Babcock University Teaching Hospital. Trusting his claims, she confided in him about a lump in her right breast.
“Taking advantage of her vulnerability, the suspect fraudulently demanded money as a supposed operation fee and instructed her to meet him on 18/11/2025 for a surgical procedure. Instead of providing medical help, he sexually abused her and withdrew funds from her Opay account,” the statement read.
Odutola added that the victim became suspicious when the suspect continued to demand sexual intimacy the following day without conducting any medical examination. She later contacted Babcock University Teaching Hospital directly and discovered that Cletus was not a medical doctor but a cleaner at the facility.
The suspect is currently undergoing investigation and will be prosecuted, Odutola said.
Reacting to the incident, Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, condemned the act, warning online predators and impostors that the Command will not tolerate exploitation, deception, or sexual violence against women.
He urged young females to be cautious and avoid sharing personal or medical details with strangers online.
