A former England international and Premier League footballer has been arrested on suspicion of attempted rape, according to multiple UK media reports.

The Athletic FC reports that the identity of the player remains undisclosed due to ongoing legal restrictions.

The arrest took place on December 1, 2025, at London Stansted Airport.

The ex-international, who featured for the Three Lions during the 2010s, was detained by UK Border Force officers at passport control while attempting to board a budget flight.
