The Rivers State House of Assembly has unanimously endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office.
The endorsement was announced on Wednesday during the Assembly’s 37th Legislative Session, following the presentation of a motion signed by 26 lawmakers.
The motion, moved by the House Leader, Major Jack (Akuku-Toru), highlighted what the lawmakers described as significant developmental gains recorded in the state under Tinubu’s administration.
According to the Assembly, the President’s numerous Federal Government projects in Rivers State, as well as his “fatherly intervention” during the state’s recent political crisis, were key factors in the decision. The lawmakers said Tinubu’s role in restoring political stability demonstrated his genuine concern for the people of the state.
They further commended the President for appointing several Rivers indigenes to strategic national positions, saying the gesture had strengthened the state’s relationship with the Federal Government and boosted political confidence among residents.
In his remarks, Speaker Martin Amaewhule (Obio/Akpor I) described Tinubu as a compassionate leader committed to steering Nigeria toward growth and economic recovery. He praised the administration’s economic policies, noting that they were impactful and people-oriented.
The lawmakers also pledged to rally grassroots support for the Renewed Hope Agenda and reaffirmed their loyalty to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
