Students of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, have called on the Olu of Iree to intervene in the escalating cost-of-living challenges that continue to affect their welfare within the community.
In an open letter addressed to His Royal Majesty and made available to LAGOS EYE NEWS, the students expressed concern over what they described as “unbearable increases” in transportation and accommodation costs.
They alleged that house agents and transport operators have been exploiting students through exorbitant charges, making it increasingly difficult for many to meet basic living expenses.
The students appealed to the monarch to use his influence to regulate the activities of transport workers and house agents in the town, noting that such intervention would provide much-needed relief and create a more conducive environment for learning.
The letter, signed by a student group, commended the monarch’s leadership and appealed for his benevolence in addressing what they described as a pressing community issue.
They expressed confidence that the king’s timely intervention would help restore fairness and stability for students residing in Iree.
The appeal concluded with prayers for the monarch’s long and peaceful reign.
