ADC Faults Adeleke’s Defection to Accord Party, Says Osun People Won’t Forget His Failures|LAGOS EYE NEWS

The African Democratic Congress (ADC), Osun State Chapter, has criticised Governor Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke following his announcement of defection to the Accord Party after publicly resigning from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In a statement issued by the Osun ADC Publicity Secretary, Comrade Abdulsalam Abdulkudus, the party described the governor’s political move announced Tuesday evening on his official X (formerly Twitter) account as a “desperate attempt to remain relevant” after what it called a disappointing performance in office.

The ADC, led by Dr. Charles Idowu Omidiji, said the governor’s defection would not provide any political advantage ahead of the 2026 gubernatorial election, insisting that Osun citizens were fully aware of what it termed the “monumental failures” recorded under his administration.

According to the statement, residents of the state “have not forgotten and will not forget” the alleged neglect and maladministration that have characterised the Adeleke-led government. It cited the controversial teachers’ recruitment exercise, in which over ₦200 million was reportedly collected from job seekers, yet the process has remained abandoned for more than two years with no appointments or explanations provided.

The ADC also accused the administration of failing to provide essential drugs in primary health centres across the state, leaving communities underserved. The governor was further criticised for what the party described as an unmet promise to provide tractors for farmers to boost food production—an initiative the ADC claims never materialised.

The party maintained that Osun residents were enduring an administration “defined by propaganda, incompetence and chronic failure,” adding that no political realignment could erase what it called a poor record of governance.

Reaffirming its position as “the only credible alternative,” the ADC said it remains committed to integrity, transparency and the welfare of the masses. The party assured that it is prepared to field credible candidates in the 2026 elections to restore hope and return Osun State to the path of progress.

“Osun people deserve better. Osun people demand accountability. And Osun people will speak loudly in 2026,” the statement concluded.
