NYSC Urges Auditors to Embrace Digital Solutions for Efficient Service Delivery |LAGOS EYE NEWS

The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, has urged the Scheme’s Internal Auditors to leverage emerging digital solutions to enhance service delivery and operational efficiency.

Nafiu gave the charge at the 2025 NYSC Auditors’ Workshop held in Abuja.

Represented by the Director of Human Resource Management, Alhaji Ibrahim Muhammad, the DG said the adoption of digital tools had become imperative for accurate cash-flow forecasting, real-time budget tracking and data-driven decision-making, which would ensure the optimal use of limited resources.

He advised the auditors to continually upgrade their digital competencies and move away from traditional paper-based work methods.

“We are moving beyond the traditional paper-based method. Innovations now enable real-time monitoring and verification of transactions,” he said.

According to him, the deployment of digital solutions in auditing would significantly reduce human errors and inefficiencies in organisational operations.

Nafiu described the workshop theme, “Strengthening Accountability through Digital Innovation in Audit Process: A Catalyst for Strategic Cash Planning,” as timely, noting that it centred on financial prudence, which was critical to the NYSC’s success through the use of real-time digital platforms.

He emphasised that auditors played a critical role in every organisation, serving as gatekeepers in daily financial transactions to curb excesses.

The DG reaffirmed the commitment of the NYSC Management to transparency and accountability in all financial dealings, in line with its mandate of promoting national unity, integration and all-round development.

“Transparency is a vital pillar of trust in every organisation; therefore, as auditors, you must not compromise standards,” he said.

Earlier, in his welcome address, the Director of Internal Audit, Dr. Levi Agim, said the workshop was designed to strategically explore the integration of digital tools to enhance efficiency in the NYSC’s internal audit processes.

Goodwill messages were delivered by Dr. Mathias Nicholas of the House of Representatives; Dr. James Nda Abalaka of the Government Integrated Financial Management Information System (GIFMIS), Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation; and a former NYSC Director of Internal Audit, Mr. Leke Abiodun.
