Bayo Omoboriowo, former official photographer to late President Muhammadu Buhari, has paid an emotional tribute to the ex-president on what would have been his birthday.

In a heartfelt message on Wednesday, Omoboriowo reflected on his eight years of service alongside Buhari at the Presidential Villa, describing the period as one marked by duty, growth, and invaluable life lessons.

“Today would have been your birthday, PMB. For eight years, we celebrated life and duty together at the Presidential Villa,” he wrote.

Omoboriowo noted that although Buhari is no longer alive, the influence and guidance he received during his years of service remain enduring. “You are gone now, but the wings you gave me are still flying,” he said.

He described his time as Buhari’s official photographer as his most defining years, stressing that the experience offered him perspective and values rather than titles or privileges. According to him, the lessons learned within the corridors of power were rare and deeply formative.

Recalling Buhari’s personal impact, Omoboriowo said the late president’s warmth became a source of strength that prepared him for challenges, public scrutiny, and moments when truth is questioned.

“That lesson walks with me still,” he added, noting that he has emerged stronger and better since leaving office on May 29, 2023, and even more resilient since Buhari’s passing.

He concluded the tribute by reaffirming his commitment to upholding the values he said Buhari instilled in him. “Happy birthday, General. You live on in the values you planted, and we will not betray them.”
