Bus Destroyed by Fire on Third Mainland Bridge, No Casualties Reported |LAGOS EYE NEWS

A bus belonging to Lagos Bus Services Limited (LBSL) was gutted by fire on the Third Mainland Bridge, Lagos, with no casualties recorded.

The incident occurred at about 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, along the Obalende–Oshodi axis of the bridge.

The affected vehicle, identified with code number 240057, was completely consumed by the fire despite the swift intervention of good Samaritans and emergency responders.

Confirming the development in a statement, LBSL said all passengers and occupants escaped unhurt, expressing relief that no injuries or loss of life were recorded.

The company stated that passenger safety remains its highest priority and described the incident as one it is treating with utmost seriousness.

According to LBSL, a comprehensive investigation has commenced to determine the cause of the fire, with assurances that measures will be taken to prevent a recurrence.

Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of LBSL, Mr. Idowu Oguntona, commended individuals who assisted during the incident, including the Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi.

“We extend our sincere appreciation to the brave individuals who rendered assistance during the incident,” Oguntona said, adding that the company would provide updates on the outcome of the investigation and any follow-up actions.

LBSL reaffirmed its commitment to providing safe, reliable, and comfortable transportation services to residents of Lagos State.
