The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has strongly disowned a write-up authored by his aide, Sa’idu Enagi, titled “Malagi 2027,” which speculated on possible permutations ahead of the 2027 Niger State governorship election.
In a statement issued by the Minister’s Special Assistant on Media, Rabiu Ibrahim, the Minister clarified that he neither directed nor approved the publication, stressing that he remains fully focused on his official responsibilities at the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation and has no interest in political distractions.
The statement urged members of the public to disregard the write-up in its entirety, describing it as a personal initiative that does not reflect the views or position of the Minister.
According to the statement, the Minister has ordered an immediate investigation into the matter and approved the suspension of the aide with immediate effect.
It further noted that the Minister maintains a cordial and mutually beneficial relationship with the Governor of Niger State, Mohammed Umaru Bago, aimed at promoting the overall development of the state. Consequently, the statement said, any speculation about the 2027 governorship election is misleading and inimical to these shared objectives.
