Lagos — The Lagos State Government has announced Monday, January 12, 2026, as the official resumption date for the second term of the 2025/2026 academic session for all public and private schools across the state, including government technical colleges.
The announcement, made in line with the approved Lagos State school calendar, directs all schools to recommence academic and administrative activities immediately upon resumption.
In a statement issued on behalf of the government, the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Jamiu Alli-Balogun, urged school authorities to strictly observe all stipulated public health and safety guidelines as students and staff return for the new term.
Mr. Alli-Balogun disclosed that government officials have been deployed to schools across the state to carry out inspections aimed at ensuring full compliance with established safety protocols and operational standards.
The Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education also expressed appreciation to teachers, parents, and guardians for their continued cooperation and support of the state’s education sector, while calling on them to ensure that pupils and students are adequately prepared for the resumption of academic activities.
The Lagos State Government reaffirmed its commitment to providing a safe, orderly, and conducive learning environment for all learners in the state.
