Wizkid has made history by becoming the first African artist to surpass 10 billion streams on Spotify, marking a major milestone not only for his career but for African music on the global stage.
The Nigerian superstar has consistently broken records on the platform, also becoming the first African artist to reach every billion-stream benchmark, from one billion through to nine billion, a run that underlines his long-standing international appeal and streaming dominance.
Meanwhile, on the home front, Afrobeats continues to thrive on local charts. TxC, Davido, Zlatan, Shoday, Scotts Maphuma and Al Xapo’s collaboration “Nakupenda” has climbed back to the number one spot on Apple Music Nigeria’s Top Songs Chart, signalling strong listener demand and renewed momentum for the track.
Together, the achievements highlight the growing global influence of African artists and the sustained popularity of Afrobeats across both international and domestic platforms.
