A member, Lagos State House of Assembly, Prince Nureni Akinsanya, popularly known as OSMAK, has said his priority is to improve access to quality education and ease the financial burden on parents and guardians in Mushin Constituency I.
Hon. Akinsanya made the remarks on Monday at his constituency office during the flag-off of the free distribution of 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) forms to indigent students.
The lawmaker, who represents Mushin Constituency I, distributed 400 free UTME slips to eligible students, urging them to take their academic pursuits seriously.
He said the initiative was part of his continued commitment to supporting education and youth development in the constituency.
“I have consistently supported students and young people in my constituency. Today marks another milestone as we distribute JAMB forms to our children,” he said.
According to him, more than 90% of the beneficiaries of the programme in the previous year have gained admission into various universities across the country.
Akinsanya, Chairman House Committee on Public Accounts (Local) expressed confidence that this year’s beneficiaries would also secure admission into tertiary institutions.
He added that several educational interventions, including scholarships for indigent students in tertiary institutions, were still ongoing in the constituency.
Meanwhile, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) on Tuesday announced the commencement of sales of application forms for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination and Direct Entry admissions for the 2026/2027 academic session.
The lawmaker advised students to apply early, noting that the screening exercise would take place between 28 and 30 January. He said applicants were expected to come with relevant documents, including their Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE) results and National Identification Number (NIN).
He also urged parents and guardians to encourage their children to take full advantage of the initiative, stressing that education remained critical to future success and should not be undermined by distractions.
