Guinean Authorities Arrest Nigerian Travel Content Creator |LAGOS EYE NEWS

A Nigerian travel content creator, Nick Francisa, has been arrested by authorities in Guinea following the publication of videos documenting her journey through the country.

The arrest was first reported on Wednesday by an X user identified as Hybrid_Ola, who disclosed that Ms Francisa had been filming her travel from Guinea to neighbouring Sierra Leone. The videos reportedly included footage of immigration procedures and border crossings.

Ms Francisa, 22, is a Nigerian social media influencer and a pharmacology student from Calabar, Cross River State. She is known online for sharing travel content as she visits different countries across Africa.

According to reports, Guinean authorities accused her of acting as an informant for bandits after reviewing one of her videos. The allegation reportedly led to her detention.

Sources familiar with the situation said the matter has been complicated by a language barrier, as Guinea is a French-speaking country. Although a translator initially informed Ms Francisa that there were no issues with her activities, she was later placed in a detention cell.

In messages shared online, the influencer appealed for assistance, expressing hope that her situation would attract the attention of relevant authorities who could intervene.
