The Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to peace, security, good governance and fiscal responsibility, assuring that the state will remain safe, stable and open for business.
The Governor gave the assurance during the official opening ceremony of the Oyo State 50th anniversary celebration held at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan.
Governor Makinde described the Golden Jubilee as a moment of reflection, responsibility and renewal, noting that the journey of the State over the past five decades has shaped its identity, resilience and progress.
The Chief Judge of the state, Justice Iyabo Yerima, represented by Justice R. B. Akintola, Architect Samson Bamidele, Chief Mrs Elizabeth Akinyele commended Governor Seyi Makinde under whose administration the Golden Jubilee celebration is being held.
Also speaking at the event, a former governor of the State and the present Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja, who called for a minute of silence in honour of past leaders and heroes of the state eulogized the sacrifices of both past and present leaders who contributed immensely to the growth and development of Oyo State.
In his welcome address, the Chairman of the Oyo @ 50 Anniversary Committee, Hon. Saheed Fijabi, said the State stands confidently when compared with sub-national governments in emerging economies across the world.
