Pastor Iren has urged Christians to uphold good character and respect, even amid disagreements on sensitive issues, warning that faith should never justify poor behaviour.
Speaking in a recent sermon, the popular preacher criticised believers who hide behind the “Word of God” to excuse rudeness or disrespect. He said standing for truth should never be a reason to insult others or disregard age and dignity.
Recall, a renowned Pastor and head of David Christian Centre (DCC), Pastor Kingsley Okonkwo, attracted widespread attention after revealing a new tattoo on his arm.
The pastor posted photos on his Instagram account, clearly showing the ink something that took many of his followers by surprise.
Pastor Iren, Citing a recent online dispute involving a man who turned 50, Pastor Iren expressed concern over younger generations, particularly Gen Z, resorting to abusive language.
“We have a problem,” he said, noting that many disagreements are subjective and should not trigger hateful reactions.
He described disrespectful comments towards elders, such as “Oga, commot for here,” as symptomatic of poor character.
The pastor also drew on experiences from counselling sessions, highlighting troubling behaviour among believers. He spoke of couples exchanging private photos, only to threaten exposure after breakups, calling such conduct unacceptable and contrary to basic human decency.
“Even atheists understand certain moral boundaries, like not abusing women,” Pastor Iren said, “yet some Christians fail in this area.”
He concluded by urging believers to reflect on their conduct and engage with one another respectfully, emphasising that true faith produces love, maturity, and civility not insults or violence.
