The Federation of Muslim Women’s Associations in Nigeria (FOMWAN) has condemned the recent attack on Woro and other villages in Gwanabe Ward I of Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, describing the incident as a tragic assault on peaceful communities.

In a statement made available to Sobi FM on Monday, the Amirah of FOMWAN, Kwara State chapter, Alhaja Biliqis Oladimeji, expressed deep sadness over the attack, which reportedly resulted in the loss of lives, destruction of property and displacement of residents.

The association said the attack posed a serious threat to peaceful coexistence and religious harmony in the state, stressing the need for urgent and decisive action by security agencies.

FOMWAN urged security agencies to intensify intelligence gathering and strengthen security networks to ensure the protection of lives and property, particularly in vulnerable communities.

The group also called on relevant authorities to implement proactive security measures in affected areas and other parts of the country prone to similar threats.

While acknowledging the efforts of Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, in supporting security agencies to combat terrorism and criminal activities, FOMWAN urged sustained collaboration among stakeholders to restore lasting peace.

The association further extended its condolences to the families of the victims, the affected communities and residents of Kaiama Local Government Area, and prayed for peace and stability across Kwara State.
