The First Lady of Lagos State, Dr Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, has hosted Miss Etiyemonu Esther, who emerged as the overall winner of the 21st edition of the Lagos State Spelling Bee Competition and was named the state’s One-Day Governor.
Miss Esther, a student of Lagos State Senior Model College, Igbokuta, was received at Lagos House in Marina by the wife of the Deputy Governor, Mrs Oluremi Hamzat, on behalf of the First Lady.
She was accompanied by Miss Awoyemi Dorcas of Ikosi Senior High School, who served as the One-Day Deputy Governor, and Miss Salami Jumai Olaide of Angus Memorial Senior High School, who was named the One-Day Secretary to the State Government.
Speaking during the reception, Mrs Hamzat praised the students for their achievement in the competition and encouraged them to remain committed to academic excellence.
She urged them to continue striving for success in their studies and to see their accomplishment as a stepping stone to greater opportunities.
The One-Day Governor initiative was introduced by the former First Lady of Lagos State, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, who is now Nigeria’s First Lady.
The programme was created to recognise outstanding academic performance and motivate students to excel in their education.
