Tottenham Hotspur sack Thomas Frank after eight months in charge|LAGOS EYE

Tottenham Hotspur have sacked head coach Thomas Frank after less than eight months in charge, with the club currently sitting 16th in the Premier League table following a disappointing run of results.

The decision follows Tuesday night’s 2-1 home defeat to Newcastle United a result that left Spurs just five points above the relegation zone and extended their poor domestic form.

Frank, who was appointed in June 2025 after leaving Brentford, departed with the lowest Premier League win percentage of any Tottenham manager in the modern era, winning just 13 of his 38 matches in charge approximately 27 per cent.

In an official club statement, Tottenham confirmed:

“Results and performances have led the Board to conclude that a change at this point in the season is necessary.”

Spurs have struggled throughout the current campaign, winning just two of their last 17 league matches and failing to secure a single Premier League victory in 2026.

Supporters made their frustrations clear during recent matches, chanting for Frank’s dismissal as Tottenham endured one of their worst league runs in years.

Despite guiding the club into the Champions League knockout stages, domestic performances including multiple home defeats and inconsistent displays ultimately cost the Danish coach his job.

According to Reuters, Tottenham’s hierarchy acted after a sustained run of poor results left the club dangerously close to the relegation zone, despite investment in the squad during the January transfer window.

Tottenham will now begin their search for a new head coach, with the club hoping a managerial change can revive their season and steer them away from relegation danger.

Frank’s departure means Spurs are now looking for their sixth permanent manager in just seven years, underlining ongoing instability at the North London club.
