The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has secured the conviction and sentencing of a traffic offender to two months’ imprisonment without the option of fine for driving against traffic along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway.
The conviction was handed down by the Ojodu-Abiodun Magistrate District Court following a special intervention patrol carried out by the corps.
The enforcement operation, conducted on February 10, 2026, targeted motorists engaging in the dangerous practice of driving against the flow of traffic along the Kara–Opic axis of the expressway.
In a statement issued by the Corps Public Education Officer, Segun Ogungbemide, the FRSC said the operation became necessary due to an increase in traffic violations linked to ongoing bridge expansion joint construction on both inward and outward sections of the corridor.
According to the statement, the illegal practice had posed serious risks to road users and undermined traffic safety efforts in the area.
FRSC Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, reiterated the corps’ zero-tolerance stance on traffic violations that endanger lives.
He assured motorists that the FRSC would sustain enforcement operations along critical road corridors across the country to promote safety and ensure compliance with traffic regulations.
