Uganda police urge schools to tighten security amid child safety concerns|LAGOS EYE NEWS

The Uganda Police Force has advised school proprietors and administrators across the country to strengthen security measures in order to protect learners from potential abduction and unlawful removal.

In a statement, police urged schools to implement stricter access control systems within their premises. These include proper registration of all visitors, limiting unnecessary entry, conducting vehicle checks at entry points, and maintaining a visible security presence at school gates, particularly during peak drop-off and pick-up hours.

Authorities also called on schools to establish and enforce clear procedures governing who is permitted to drop off and collect learners. This includes verifying the identity and authority of any person collecting a child from school.

Police said such precautions are essential in preventing incidents involving missing children or unauthorised removal, especially in cases linked to domestic or marital disputes.

The advisory forms part of wider efforts by the Uganda Police Force to enhance child safety and ensure schools remain secure environments for learners.
