The Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) has announced a temporary reduction in gas supply to several major power generating plants connected to the national grid, warning that the move could lead to a drop in electricity supply across the country.
In a statement, NISO said the disruption is due to a scheduled maintenance shutdown of a key gas facility, running from 12 to 15 February 2026.
Power stations expected to be directly affected include Egbin, Azura, Sapele, and Transcorp.
Additional plants, including NDPHC Sapele, Olorunsogo, and Omotosho, may face indirect constraints because of network-wide gas balancing effects.
NISO stressed that all actions during this period will follow established operational procedures, grid security requirements, and reliability standards.
The operator assured electricity customers and stakeholders that full gas supply is expected to resume on 16 February 2026.
