Hyacinth Alia, governor of Benue State, has expressed appreciation to Bola Ahmed Tinubu for providing personnel and logistics support to help tackle insecurity in the state.
Speaking while welcoming newly deployed security personnel, Mr Alia said he was satisfied with the level of assistance from the federal government and urged the operatives to work towards restoring peace.
He described Benue as Nigeria’s “food basket” and stressed the importance of stability for agricultural and economic activities.
In a statement issued by his Technical Adviser on Media, Publicity and Strategic Communication, Solomon Iorpev, the governor also commended heads of security agencies for their efforts. He cited the recent rescue of nine children in Utonkon as an example of progress made in addressing insecurity.
Mr Alia called on security agencies to sustain their efforts until all threats to public safety were eliminated.
He also directed operatives to provide adequate protection for workers constructing the Nyihemba-Abande road, saying the project would improve mobility and emergency response times.
The governor further emphasised the importance of democracy in development and asked security personnel to ensure the safe conduct of upcoming congresses of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to good governance and appealed to residents to support efforts to improve development and security across the state.
