FAAN, MTN Nigeria Roll Out Free WiFi at MMIA and Nnamdi Azikiwe Airports|LAGOS EYE NEWS

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has launched free wireless internet services at two of the country’s busiest airports in partnership with MTN Nigeria.

The service is now available at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) Terminal 2 in Lagos and at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.

The official launch ceremony took place at MMIA Terminal 2, where FAAN’s Managing Director and Chief Executive, Mrs Olubunmi Kuku, was represented by the Director of Airport Operations, Captain Abdullahi Mahmood. MTN Nigeria’s Chief Enterprise Business Officer, Lynda Saint-Nwafor, represented the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Karl Toriola.

FAAN said the WiFi service is free for passengers and other airport users. The authority added that it plans to extend the service to the MMIA temporary terminal and other international airports across Nigeria within the next three months.

Speaking at the event, Captain Mahmood described the initiative as a milestone for FAAN and a significant step towards improving digital infrastructure and passenger experience at Nigerian airports. He said the collaboration with MTN Nigeria highlights the potential of public-private partnerships to modernise infrastructure and support the country’s digital economy.

He added that the project aligns with the “Renewed Hope” agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the aviation sector reforms being driven by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo.

In her remarks, Ms Saint-Nwafor said the WiFi service would be reliable, secure and efficient for users. She commended FAAN’s management for what she described as its collaboration and foresight in delivering the project.
