The Kwara State Government has announced that the monthly state-wide environmental sanitation exercise for February will take place on Saturday, 28th February 2026, from 7:00 am to 10:00 am.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued by the Press Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Shakirat Muritala, on Wednesday.
Speaking through the statement, the Commissioner for Environment, Hajia Nafisat Musa Buge, warned that there will be no human or vehicular movement during the exercise, and violators will be prosecuted in mobile courts with fines and penalties to serve as deterrent.
She urged residents to use the exercise to clean homes, business premises, drainages, and remove potential sources of health hazards to maintain a clean and safe environment.
The Commissioner highlighted the importance of cleanliness during the Holy month of Ramadan and the Lent season, noting that “cleanliness is next to godliness.”
She noted that provision has been made for waste collection trucks to evacuate refuse, while environmental health officers, taskforce teams, and security agents will be deployed to ensure compliance with sanitation laws.
