The Oyo State Government has urged farmers across the state to take advantage of weather forecasts provided by the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) as well as the state’s 50 percent tractorization subsidy programme for the 2026 farming season.
The Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development in Oyo State, Olasunkanmi Olaleye, made the call while officially flagging off the 2026 farming season at the Local Government Training Hall, located at the State Secretariat, Agodi, in Ibadan.
Speaking at the event, Olaleye explained that access to reliable weather information would enable farmers to make informed decisions during their farming activities, particularly in planning planting and harvesting periods.
He reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to supporting farmers through policies and programmes aimed at improving agricultural productivity and boosting food production across the state.
