Qatar Suspends Talks with Iran, Warns of Escalating Regional Conflict |LAGOS EYE NEWS

Qatar has suspended all negotiations with Iran, warning that the growing tensions in the region could escalate into a broader global crisis.

The announcement was made by Majed Al-Ansari, spokesperson for the country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during a briefing in Doha.

Al-Ansari said the Gulf state would halt diplomatic discussions with Tehran as long as Iranian attacks allegedly continue to target civilian infrastructure.

He described the situation as increasingly resembling a full-scale regional conflict.

Qatar also cautioned major stakeholders, including the United States and Israel, that a complete collapse of diplomatic engagement could push the confrontation entirely onto the battlefield, with consequences that could destabilize the wider region.

Meanwhile, in a separate development, Mojtaba Khamenei issued his first official message since reportedly assuming power, stating that Iran would continue blocking the Strait of Hormuz as a form of pressure against the United States and Israel.

The message, broadcast on Iranian state television from Tehran, vowed retaliation for those killed in the conflict and warned that Tehran could seek compensation from its adversaries or target their assets in response.

Although Mojtaba Khamenei has not appeared publicly amid reports suggesting he may have been injured in recent Israeli strikes, the statement signals a hard-line approach that could involve economic pressure and potential regional blockades.
