Two Bus Drivers Face Sanctions as Lagos Bus Services Moves Against Fuel Theft|LAGOS EYE NEWS

Lagos Bus Services Limited (LBSL) has taken decisive action following a fuel siphoning incident involving two of its bus captains, reaffirming its commitment to integrity, transparency, and public safety.

The company’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Idowu Oguntona, disclosed in a statement on Monday that the incident occurred on March 10, 2026.

According to him, the act was brought to the company’s attention through a video recorded by a concerned citizen.

Oguntona explained that the individuals involved were immediately identified and apprehended before being handed over to security personnel for further investigation.

He added that after due process, the suspects were arraigned before a Mobile Court on March 12, 2026, and subsequently remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre pending a further hearing scheduled for April 22, 2026.

The LBSL chief emphasized the organisation’s commitment to accountability and strict enforcement of operational standards.

“We strongly condemn any act that compromises the trust reposed in our workforce and the resources entrusted to us by the government and the people of Lagos State,” the statement said.

Oguntona also commended the vigilance of the citizen who reported the incident, stressing that public cooperation remains crucial to maintaining the integrity and efficiency of the public transportation system.

He reiterated that LBSL maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward misconduct, noting that any employee found engaging in fraudulent activities, theft, or other forms of gross misconduct will face immediate disciplinary action and possible prosecution in accordance with the law.

According to him, the swift action taken in the case is intended to serve as a deterrent and reinforce the company’s commitment to ethical conduct.
