The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that the third and final phase of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise will commence nationwide on Monday, May 11, 2026.
In a statement released Mohammed Kudu Haruna, Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee on Tuesday, the Commission disclosed that the exercise, which is part of preparations to update the national voter register, will run until Friday, July 10, 2026.
INEC noted that the second phase of the CVR was suspended on April 17, 2026, to enable the clean-up of the voter register following its publication for claims and objections by registrants.
According to the Commission, the upcoming phase provides an opportunity for eligible Nigerians who have attained the age of 18, as well as those who missed earlier registration periods, to register and be included in the electoral roll.
The Commission also urged already registered voters seeking to transfer their registration, replace lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), or correct their personal details to either visit INEC offices at the state and local government levels or access its online portal.
INEC further announced that the voter register will be displayed for public scrutiny between July 23 and July 29, 2026. The exercise, it said, is aimed at allowing citizens to raise claims and objections to ensure the credibility and accuracy of the register.
Reassuring Nigerians of its preparedness, the Commission stated that all necessary arrangements have been put in place for a smooth exercise, while calling on eligible citizens to participate actively in strengthening the country’s electoral process.
