Popular Nollywood actor Akin Olaiya has announced the end of his marriage to Nafeesat Feenah Hammed, less than a year after the couple tied the knot.
The actor made the revelation through a formal marriage dissolution letter, citing irreconcilable differences and unsuccessful efforts to save the union.
According to Olaiya, the marriage was solemnised on June 29, 2025, at the Central Mosque, Sabo, Mokola, Ibadan, in the presence of family members and loved ones.
Speaking on the circumstances surrounding the separation, the actor disclosed that challenges began a few months after their wedding. He alleged that plans for the couple to attend an event together in Lagos took an unexpected turn when his wife informed him she was no longer interested in accompanying him.
Olaiya further claimed that before his return home that day, Nafeesat had packed her belongings and left their matrimonial home without prior notice.
The actor stated that following her departure, he made several attempts to reconcile with her, including reaching out personally and engaging members of her family in efforts to restore the marriage.
Despite the interventions, Olaiya said his wife repeatedly maintained that she was no longer interested in continuing the relationship.
“As a result of her decision and continuous refusal to return or reconcile, I hereby declare that Nafisat Feenah Hammed is no longer my wife, and the marriage relationship between us is considered dissolved from my end,” he stated in the letter.
The development has sparked widespread reactions on social media, with many fans expressing shock that the marriage ended only months after it was contracted.
As of the time of this report, Nafeesat Feenah Hammed and her family have not publicly responded to the actor’s claims.
