Police Arrest Officers Caught Extorting Motorists in Viral Video in Rivers |LAGOS EYE NEWS

The Rivers State Police Command has arrested officers allegedly involved in the extortion of motorists after a video of the incident went viral on social media.

The Commissioner of Police in Rivers State, Olugbenga Adepoju, confirmed the arrest and assured residents that a thorough investigation had been launched into the allegations.

According to the command, the officers were identified following the circulation of the video, which showed suspected police personnel allegedly extorting money from motorists.

The incident sparked widespread public outrage and renewed concerns over misconduct among some law enforcement officers.

CP Adepoju stated that the command would not tolerate any form of unprofessional conduct, corruption, or abuse of office by its personnel.

He emphasized that disciplinary measures would be taken against any officer found culpable after the investigation.

The police chief also urged members of the public to continue reporting cases of extortion, harassment, and other forms of misconduct, assuring that such complaints would be treated promptly and transparently.

The Rivers State Police Command reiterated its commitment to professionalism, accountability, and restoring public confidence in the police force.
