Operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Ogun State Police Command have rescued a kidnap victim and neutralised two suspected kidnappers during a coordinated operation in the state.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi.
According to the statement, the victim was abducted on June 11, 2026, at Ogbe Village in Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State.
Babaseyi said the police command swiftly activated its Anti-Kidnapping Unit following the incident, deploying intelligence and tactical resources aimed at securing the victim’s release and apprehending those responsible.
He explained that sustained intelligence gathering, strategic surveillance, and continuous operational pressure on the criminal gang led to the safe release of the victim on June 18, 2026.
The police spokesperson added that the victim was rescued unharmed, while two members of the suspected kidnapping syndicate were neutralised during the operation. A single-barrel gun was also recovered from the suspects.
The Ogun State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to combating kidnapping and other violent crimes across the state, assuring residents of continued efforts to ensure the safety of lives and property.
