Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, on Wednesday said his administration’s infrastructure drive is aimed at improving the lives of residents through strategic investments in roads, bridges, education and water projects, executed with transparency, due process and fiscal responsibility.

Adeleke stated this during the official commissioning of the four-span LAMECO Flyover Bridge at LAMECO Roundabout in Osogbo, describing the project as part of his government’s commitment to rebuilding the state through people-centred infrastructure.

The governor said the commissioning marked the beginning of the inauguration of several mega projects undertaken by his administration for public use.

According to him, “These projects are not isolated. Today marks the commencement of the commissioning of several mega projects initiated by our administration for public use. This is part of our government’s promise to rebuild Osun through infrastructure that touches every aspect of people’s lives, including roads, bridges, education and water.”

He noted that the projects were executed in line with due process, transparency and fiscal responsibility without compromising the future of coming generations.

Adeleke commended residents of Osogbo for their patience throughout the construction period and praised the engineers, contractors and workers for delivering the flyover on schedule.

“The high quality of this flyover confirms the viability of our local content model. We are proving to the world that our local engineers can deliver projects that meet world-class standards,” he said.

Describing the LAMECO Flyover as evidence of responsible governance, the governor said the project demonstrated that prudent management of resources produces tangible development.

He disclosed that his administration had completed over 27 kilometres of intercity roads in Osogbo and more than 300 kilometres of roads across the state, in addition to delivering over 10 mega infrastructure projects under its policy of equity and fairness.

Adeleke, however, urged residents to safeguard the newly commissioned bridge, warning against activities capable of damaging the facility.

“I charge the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, as well as community stakeholders, to protect this valuable asset. There should be no street trading on the bridge or its approaches, and there should be no vandalism of the railings or streetlights.

“Let us take ownership of this infrastructure. Keep it clean, preserve it and maintain it for future generations. Our drivers and commuters must use this bridge responsibly. It was built to save lives, not to endanger them,” he said.

The governor thereafter formally declared the LAMECO Flyover officially commissioned and open for public use, dedicating the project to the glory of God.
