The Uganda Police Force, working alongside other security agencies, has arrested a group of suspected cyber fraudsters accused of impersonating prominent individuals and carrying out online scams targeting unsuspecting members of the public.

According to police, investigations have uncovered a network of cybercriminals operating fake social media accounts, particularly on TikTok and WhatsApp, using the identities and photographs of well-known personalities to deceive victims.

The latest arrests follow ongoing operations by security agencies aimed at dismantling cyber fraud networks across the country.

Police also recalled that on February 9, 2026, they announced the arrest of several suspects during an operation conducted in Iganga Municipality.

The suspects were identified as Isabirye Ashiraf, Mulondo Rahman, Kakaire Zubair, and Egesa Sharif.

Authorities said investigations into the cyber fraud syndicate are ongoing and urged members of the public to verify the authenticity of social media accounts before engaging in financial transactions or sharing personal information online.
