Thousands of supporters on Wednesday flooded major streets in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, as the African Democratic Congress (ADC) held a large-scale campaign rally, with party leaders describing the turnout as a demonstration of growing grassroots support ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The rally began at Adeta Roundabout and moved through several parts of the city before ending at the party’s state secretariat in Basin. Supporters, residents, youths, women, and party members lined the route to welcome the campaign train.
Among those who led the rally were the ADC National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi; the party’s Kwara State Chairman, Hon. Babatunde Mohammed; the governorship candidate, Rt. Hon. Zakari Mohammed; the Kwara Central Senatorial Candidate, Hajia Risikat Abdullahi; the House of Representatives candidate for Asa/Ilorin West Federal Constituency, Hon. Abdulkadir Olanrewaju Oba-Aluko; House of Assembly candidates; and other party leaders.
Addressing supporters, Bolaji Abdullahi urged residents to remain committed to the ADC, expressing confidence that the party is prepared to offer purposeful leadership and improved governance.
The governorship candidate, Rt. Hon. Zakari Mohammed, alongside other candidates, pledged to pursue inclusive development, accountable leadership, and people-centred governance if elected.
The campaign train also made stops at Maraba, Oja Oba, Gambari, and Ojagboro, where residents turned out in large numbers to receive the party’s candidates.
The rally ended at the ADC State Secretariat in Basin, with party leaders thanking supporters for what they described as an overwhelming turnout and reaffirming their commitment to expanding grassroots mobilisation across Kwara State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
