Lagos State Deputy Governor and All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the 2027 election, Obafemi Hamzat, has pledged to prioritise healthcare, infrastructure, housing and education if elected governor of the state.
Hamzat made the commitment on Monday during a radio programme, where he outlined his vision for the next phase of governance in Lagos.
He said his administration would focus on sectors that directly affect residents, with emphasis on practical policies aimed at improving the quality of life of Lagosians.
“There is plenty to do, and knowledge is about experience. We are going to try our best in doing what will better the lives of Lagosians,” he said.
The deputy governor said his years of involvement in governance had given him first-hand knowledge of the challenges confronting the state.
“My years in public service as Commissioner for Science and Technology, Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure and, at present, the Deputy Governor have provided me with first-hand knowledge of the state’s challenges,” Hamzat said.
He said the experience had positioned him to develop result-driven policies capable of addressing the needs of residents and promoting sustainable development across critical sectors.
On healthcare, Hamzat pledged increased investment in the sector to strengthen medical infrastructure and improve the quality of healthcare services available to Lagos residents.
He cited the ongoing construction of hospitals and doctors’ quarters at the General Hospital, Ojo, as part of efforts to improve healthcare delivery.
“We are building hospitals and doctors’ quarters that will enhance quality of medical services,” he said.
Hamzat also identified infrastructure, transportation, housing and social services as key areas that would receive attention under his administration.
He stressed that governance must translate into tangible benefits for residents, adding that government policies would be designed to promote inclusive growth and improve living standards.
The APC candidate assured Lagos residents that, if elected, he would build on his experience in government to deliver impactful governance anchored on continuity, practical solutions and a deeper understanding of the state’s needs.
