Afrobeats singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has reacted to the unfolding results of the Osun State governorship election, urging the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to respect the wishes of voters.
In a series of posts on xhandle, Davido appeared to criticise Hon. James Faleke over what he described as alleged pressure on INEC to alter the election results.
“Today nah today!! Una don meet una match!!” he wrote.
He also said: “Hon. James Faleke, stop putting pressure on INEC to change Osun election result. Respect the wishes of Osun people. We don’t want Oyetola and AMBO.”
Davido further claimed that Senate President Godswill Akpabio had contacted the collation centre and called for the coalition to be stopped, although he did not provide evidence to support the claim.
“Sen President Akpabio has called the coalition centre that they should stop coalition!!!!” he wrote.
He also appealed to supporters of AMBO, saying, “AMBO SAVE THE REMAINING OOOO.”
Questioning delays in the uploading of polling-unit results, Davido said INEC’s delay could create room for manipulation.
“Delay only means one thing: Buying time for manipulation,” he said, adding that his “tech team” had monitored results from 470 polling units.
He urged INEC to upload the relevant result sheets promptly, saying, “We expect you to do the right thing and have those sheets up in less than 30 minutes.”
The claims made by Davido regarding Faleke, Akpabio and the alleged manipulation of results could not be independently verified from the information provided.
