Osun State Governor and Accord governorship candidate, Ademola Adeleke, has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to adhere strictly to the electoral process and ensure a free, fair and credible governorship election across the state.

Adeleke made the call shortly after casting his vote at Polling Unit 009, Ward 02, Abogunde Compound, Ede North Local Government Area, on Saturday.

The governor alleged that there were plans to bypass the established collation process, insisting that election results must be transmitted through the prescribed stages.

“I have it on good authority that they do not want to follow the normal process, which is from the polling units to the wards and then to the local government.

“Instead, they want to take everything directly to the collation centre, and that is not acceptable. They must follow the rules,” he said.

Adeleke urged voters and his supporters to remain vigilant throughout the electoral process, expressing confidence in his victory.

“I am urging my people to watch out. And I know, by the special grace of God, that I am winning this election,” he added.

Meanwhile, voters were seen checking their names on the voters’ register at Abogunde Compound Polling Unit, Ward 02, Ede North, ahead of accreditation and voting.

LAGOS EYE NEWS reports that the election materials also arrived at Ward 10, Unit 13, in Egbedore Local Government Area, as officials prepared for the commencement of voting.

There were also allegations of vote-buying in some parts of Osun State, with the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Accord Party accused of intensifying efforts to influence voters ahead of the election.

Some reports alleged that supporters of the two parties were offering between N10,000 and N20,000 to voters. The allegations could not be independently verified.
