Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as the conduct of a free and fair governorship election in the state, while reaffirming his support for the President’s bid for a second term in 2027.
Adeleke spoke after securing re-election in the August 15, 2026 Osun State governorship election.
The governor expressed appreciation to Tinubu for his role in ensuring what he described as a credible electoral process in the state.
“At this point, I must deeply appreciate Mr President, His Excellency, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for his strong support for a free and fair election,” Adeleke said.
He further described Tinubu as “a son of Osun State” before restating his earlier endorsement of the President for the 2027 presidential election.
“Mr President is a son of Osun State and I hereby reaffirm my earlier endorsement of him for second term in the 2027 presidential election,” he added.
Adeleke had, before the election, repeatedly appealed to President Tinubu to ensure that the governorship poll was conducted peacefully, transparently and without intimidation.
The governor’s renewed endorsement is notable given the political rivalry surrounding the Osun election and the different political affiliations of Adeleke and Tinubu.
Adeleke’s victory has been described by his supporters as a renewed mandate from the people of Osun State and an endorsement of his administration.
Keyamo Commends Adeleke
Reacting to Adeleke’s statement, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, thanked the governor for publicly reaffirming his support for Tinubu’s 2027 presidential bid.
Keyamo, in a post on X, described Adeleke as a “man of integrity and honour.”
“Thank you, Governor Ademola Adeleke, for the public and unequivocal endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the 2027 Presidential Election,” Keyamo wrote.
He added: “You are a man of integrity and honour. ‘Agreement is agreement.’”
Adeleke’s renewed endorsement of Tinubu is expected to attract further political attention as political activities gradually intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.
