The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the incumbent governor of Osun State and candidate of the Accord Party, Ademola Adeleke, winner of the 2026 Osun State governorship election.
The declaration was made in the early hours of Sunday by the INEC Returning Officer, Professor Joshua Olalekan Ogunwole, Vice Chancellor of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti, following the conclusion of the collation of results from the 30 local government areas of the state.
According to the final results announced by INEC, Adeleke polled 511,067 votes to defeat his closest challenger, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, who scored 444,815 votes.
Ogunwole said Adeleke had satisfied all legal requirements and was therefore declared the winner and returned elected.
“That, Ademola Adeleke of Accord Party, having satisfied the requirements of the law, is hereby declared winner and is returned elected, duly signed by me,” Ogunwole declared.
Adeleke won in 19 of the 30 local government areas, while Oyebamiji secured victory in 11 local government areas.
LGAs won by Adeleke
Adeleke won Ayedaade, Ayedire, Boluwaduro, Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore, Ejigbo, Ife Central, Ife East, Ife North, Ifedayo, Ifelodun, Ila, Ilesa West, Iwo, Odo-Otin, Oriade, Orolu and Osogbo Local Government Areas.
His strongest margins came from Ede North, Ede South, Osogbo, Ife East and Iwo, among others.
LGAs won by Oyebamiji
The APC candidate won Atakumosa East, Atakumosa West, Boripe, Ife South, Ilesa East, Irepodun, Irewole, Isokan, Obokun, Ola-Oluwa and Olorunda Local Government Areas.
Oyebamiji recorded particularly strong performances in Irewole, Boripe, Atakumosa West, Ilesa East and Obokun.
With the declaration, Adeleke secures another term as governor of Osun State after a closely contested election that saw the two leading candidates dominate the results across the state’s 30 local government areas.
