The Embassy of Switzerland in Nigeria has appointed Cécile D’Agostino as its new Humanitarian Adviser in Abuja.

The embassy announced the appointment in a statement, describing D’Agostino as an experienced humanitarian professional with more than two decades of international service in humanitarian affairs, human rights advocacy and civilian protection.

According to the embassy, her career has included frontline and strategic leadership roles with the United Nations and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), with assignments in countries including South Sudan, the Central African Republic, Colombia and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Prior to her new appointment in Abuja, D’Agostino spent more than six years with the United Nations, where she most recently served as Head of the Victims’ Rights Unit in Bangui.

In that role, she supported victims of sexual exploitation and abuse, further strengthening her experience in protecting vulnerable populations and promoting human rights.

The Swiss Embassy said her commitment to human rights, resilience-building and the protection of vulnerable groups would strengthen its humanitarian engagements in Nigeria.

The embassy welcomed D’Agostino to the diplomatic mission and wished her a successful and impactful tenure in Nigeria.
