The Kwara State Government has announced Monday, September 21, 2026, as the resumption date for the 2026/2027 academic session in all public and private primary and secondary schools across the state.
The Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr. Lawal O. Olohungbebe, disclosed this on Wednesday at the ministry’s headquarters on Offa Road, Ilorin.
Olohungbebe said the approved academic calendar was designed to ensure the smooth running of academic activities and improve learning outcomes across the state.
He explained that the 2026/2027 academic session would run from September 21, 2026, to July 2027, with the calendar providing dates for resumption, mid-term breaks, examinations and vacation periods for the three terms.
The commissioner urged proprietors, school heads, teachers, parents and students to comply strictly with the approved academic calendar.
“The government is committed to standardising the school system and ensuring that our learners are not left behind. Compliance with this calendar will help us achieve better coordination and academic excellence,” he said.
He reiterated the commitment of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq’s administration to repositioning the education sector in Kwara State and ensuring that students are equipped to compete nationally and globally.
