Deaconess Angel Oyakhilome, mother of Rev. Dr. Chris Oyakhilome, President of LoveWorld Incorporated and Christ Embassy, has died at the age of 88.
Her death marks the passing of a woman whose life was closely connected to the Christian heritage of the Oyakhilome family and the early history of the ministry her son would later take to audiences around the world.
Born in 1938, Deaconess Angel was the wife of the late Elder Tim E. Oyakhilome, a respected Christian leader who was involved in the early development of the Assemblies of God Church in Benin City, Edo State.
Elder Tim Oyakhilome later served as Dean of Studies at the LoveWorld Ministerial College, where he was involved in the training and mentoring of ministers. He died in 2008.
Together, Elder Tim and Deaconess Angel raised their children in a Christian home where faith, service and the teaching of the Bible were central to family life.
Their first son, Chris Oyakhilome, later became one of Nigeria’s internationally recognised Christian ministers. His ministry began with a student fellowship known as Youth For Christ and subsequently developed into what is today known as LoveWorld Incorporated and Christ Embassy.
Deaconess Angel was therefore part of the family and Christian environment that shaped the early life of the preacher and ministry leader.
She was described in tributes as a devoted mother who instilled Christian values in her children and supported her son’s ministry journey. She was also a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Her contribution to the LoveWorld family was formally recognised in 2022 when the ministry presented her with a Special Commendation Award for what it described as her immense contributions to the expansion of LoveWorld Nation.
The recognition brought her together with her son in an emotional ceremony and highlighted the esteem in which she was held within the ministry.
In April 2023, members of the LoveWorld family and other guests gathered in Benin City to celebrate her 85th birthday.
She was celebrated again in March 2026 on the occasion of her 88th birthday.
Deaconess Angel’s death has since prompted tributes from members of the LoveWorld community and those who knew the Oyakhilome family.
Details concerning the circumstances and cause of her death were not immediately available from an official source at the time of filing this report. No speculation has been made regarding the cause of death.
Her life, however, remains closely associated with the Christian foundation of the Oyakhilome family and the ministry journey of her son.

She is survived by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other members of the Oyakhilome family.
