Police operatives in Lagos State have arrested a suspected member of the armed robbery gang that attacked customers at Ghost and Spirits Lounge on Ekoro Road, Abule Egba, over the weekend.
The suspect, identified in a viral video wearing a green shirt and cap, was reportedly arrested following intensified efforts by the police and credible intelligence.
The development came after the management of the lounge reportedly placed a N5 million bounty for information leading to the arrest of the perpetrators.
The robbery occurred at about 4am on Saturday when several customers were attacked by the armed gang.
Footage of the incident showed some customers sitting on the bonnet of a car and inside the open boot of another vehicle while chatting.
One of the suspects, dressed in a green shirt and cap, was seen standing beside one of the vehicles, apparently posing as a customer.
Moments later, the gang’s operational vehicle was reportedly spotted across the road. One of the robbers emerged from the vehicle and fired a shot, announcing the gang’s presence.
The suspect in the green shirt subsequently approached one of the victims and attempted to remove his wristwatch, while other customers fled the scene.
The gang reportedly dispossessed the victims of valuables before escaping in their vehicle.
A police source confirmed the arrest, saying the suspect was apprehended after sustained tracking and intelligence gathering.
“We have one suspect in custody, and he is assisting us with useful information. We are trailing the others. The command will not rest until all the perpetrators are brought to book,” the source said.
The arrested suspect remains in police custody and is undergoing interrogation, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the gang who fled the scene.
