President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has signed the Appropriation (Amendment) (No. 4) Bill, 2025, into law, extending the implementation period of the 2025 Appropriation Act from September 30, 2026, to December 31, 2026.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
According to the statement, President Tinubu’s assent followed the swift passage of the amendment bill by the Senate and the House of Representatives on Tuesday, September 29, 2026.
The extension is expected to provide Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) with additional time to complete ongoing capital projects and fully utilise funds already appropriated for approved programmes.
The Presidency said the move would also help prevent disruptions to critical government programmes and projects as the implementation period of the 2025 budget continues.
President Tinubu commended the leadership and members of the National Assembly for their prompt consideration and passage of the bill.
He described the development as another demonstration of cooperation between the Executive and Legislature in advancing national development.
