The Women Mobilisation Directorate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council is set to hold a major stakeholders’ summit in Abuja on Monday as preparations intensify for the 2027 presidential election.
The Women Stakeholders’ Mobilisation and Empowerment Pre-Inaugural Campaign Roll-Out will take place at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, with more than 20,000 women expected to attend from the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory.
Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, is expected to lead the gathering, which organisers said is aimed at strengthening the APC’s women mobilisation structure ahead of President Bola Tinubu’s bid for a second term.
The Director of the Women Mobilisation Directorate, Dr Betta Edu, said the party was expanding its grassroots mobilisation network, with a target of securing 40 million votes from women for President Tinubu and Vice-President Kashim Shettima in the 2027 presidential election.
The programme is scheduled to commence at 8:00 a.m. and will bring together women leaders, professionals, entrepreneurs, political stakeholders, community representatives and grassroots organisers.
The summit, themed “Renewed Hope Agenda 2.0: From Reforms to Prosperity,” carries the mobilisation message: “One Voice, One Movement, One Choice, One Mandate 2027.”
Edu said the Abuja summit would complement the directorate’s ongoing community-level and door-to-door mobilisation efforts across the country.
According to her, the mobilisation strategy is focused on engaging women and households at the grassroots as the APC seeks to build wider support for its presidential ticket.
The directorate said its mobilisation network currently covers 176,846 communities nationwide, while clarifying that the 40 million women’s votes represent a campaign target rather than an electoral projection.
Organisers said the summit would also provide an opportunity to strengthen women’s participation in the APC campaign structure and highlight programmes and policies the ruling party intends to present as part of President Tinubu’s case for re-election.
The Abuja gathering is expected to be one of the APC Presidential Campaign Council’s major women-focused mobilisation activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.
