A 33-year-old man, Monsuru Musa, has been apprehended for allegedly impersonating his father, Musa Mohammed, during the ongoing promotion examination conducted by the FCT Civil Service Commission.

Musa was reportedly caught on Wednesday, the third day of the examination, while allegedly writing the promotion examination on behalf of his father, who works with the FCT Fire Service.

The incident occurred at the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), which served as one of the venues for the examination.

According to reports, the security personnel deployed on the directive of the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, apprehended the younger Musa during the examination.

During questioning, Monsuru reportedly claimed that his father was ill but was within the NOUN premises. He allegedly told security officials that his father had instructed him to sit for the examination on his behalf.

When asked about his father’s age, Monsuru reportedly said his father was between 67 and 68 years old.

However, Musa Mohammed gave a different account, claiming that he would turn 60 in February 2027.

During further interrogation, the senior Musa reportedly stated that he completed his secondary education in 1982 and attended primary school in 1977.

Following the incident, both father and son were handed over to the police for further investigation after making statements to officials of the Department of State Services (DSS).

The authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the alleged examination impersonation and determine appropriate action.
