FG to offer petrol discounts at NNPC filling stations for next 30 days |LAGOS EYE NEWS

The federal government says it will offer a discount on petrol dispensed at the filling stations of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited for the next 30 days.

Taiwo Oyedele, minister of finance, announced the gesture at a press conference on Thursday in Abuja.

Oyedele clarified that the arrangement is not a return of the petrol subsidy, explaining that the government would sell the product at cost during the initial 30-day period.

“We are offering a discount on petrol dispensed by NNPC Limited for the next 30 days in the first instance, with priority for public transporters nationwide. So, it’s not a subsidy, the government is just saying we sell to you at cost,” he said.

The initiative is expected to provide some relief on petrol costs, particularly for public transport operators, during the 30-day period.
