The Oyo State Police Command has arrested two security operatives and an Indian national over the alleged assault of two truck drivers at Karma Agric Feeds and Foods Limited along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
The arrests followed the circulation of a viral video showing the drivers being assaulted at the company’s premises around Kilometre 12 of the expressway in Ibadan.
The incident was brought to public attention after Lagos Reporters reported the development.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, said the command launched an investigation after receiving information about the video.
According to him, the Commissioner of Police, Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, subsequently directed detectives to identify and apprehend those involved in the incident.
Preliminary reports indicated that the confrontation began when one of the truck drivers objected to a designated parking space over concerns that it could damage his vehicle’s tyres.
The situation reportedly escalated after one of the tyres burst following the driver’s alleged compulsion to park in the designated area.
The disagreement intensified when the company allegedly declined the driver’s request for a replacement tyre, prompting him to block the company’s entrance with his truck before the dispute degenerated into a physical confrontation.
The two injured drivers, identified as Ridwan Olajide, 34, and Taiwo Yinusa, 37, were subsequently taken to a hospital in the Academy area of Ibadan for medical treatment.
The arrested suspects were identified as Olowu Oluwadamilare and Sodeke Olamide, security operatives attached to the company, and Harjit Singh, 46, an Indian national associated with the firm.
The police said the case had been transferred to the Special Enquiry Bureau in Eleyele, Ibadan, for further investigation.
The command added that anyone found culpable would be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
